About

Sliz Gillard is an experienced arts facilitator and an HCPC-registered art psychotherapist with experience in community, health and education settings…

I deliver one-to-one and group art therapy, have a strong foundation in social, emotional, and mental health interventions and a passion for environmental art therapy. My practice spans working with adults and children, neurodivergence and disability.

I have supported adolescents and adults navigating trauma, loss, grief and bereavement, depression, severe and enduring eating disorders (including Anorexia, Bullimia Nervosa, Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and Orthorexia) with complex comorbidities, Body Dysmorphia, PTSD, identity issues, situational mutism, challenging behaviour, complex family dynamics, experiences of war zones, sexual and physical abuse, child sexual exploitation, grooming, emotional abuse, self-harm, anxiety, attachment difficulties, challenging peer relationships and personality disorders.

I also deliver psychoeducation to education staff and service users within community settings: supporting understanding of mental health, neurodiversity, trauma and creative approaches to emotional wellbeing.

Community and culture underpin all of my work: shaping a practice that is creative, relational and trauma-informed. I aim to provide safe, reflective spaces for growth and healing and believe art therapy should be accessible to all, irrespective of background, diversity, or circumstance.

My previous career in the arts industry, spanning prop making, set dressing and creative production, has enriched my ability to sustain a reflective art practice, before moving toward a more meaningful calling: supporting communities and improving mental health, through art making.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I am a practising artist working across a wide range of media and continue to take commissions.

I am HCPC-registered, a full British Association of Art Therapist (BAAT) member, hold a DBS, and undertake annual adult and child safeguarding training.
